A Don't Waste Arizona, Inc. member and local resident of Hayden, Arizona, took these pictures of smoke from the ASARCO copper smelter complex on December 3, 2001. Note that the smoke is not coming out of the tall smokestack on the left of the photo. The Don't Waste Arizona, Inc. member said that the ASARCO smelter complex smokes like this almost everyday, and that citizen complaint calls to EPA and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality about this almost daily problem remain unanswered.
